We are seeking an experienced Chartered Civil Engineer to fill the role of Principal Engineer for our growing team in Welwyn Garden City.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and well- organised, able to motivate and lead an effective design team, and competent to supervise a range of Civil Engineering Infrastructure designs of varying scales at all stages of a project lifecycle, from small private clients up to major international household names.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be willing to mentor more junior team members through their Chartered Professional Review process as a Supervising or Delegate Engineer, although previous experience of this is not required.
The successful candidate will be willing to assist with strategic business planning, resourcing and keen to support the Senior Leadership team with business growth objectives and support commercial management of the team.
Degree level Chartered Engineer (MIStructE/MICE) with extensive post-qualification experience of managing whole design processes and leading an effective, professional building structures team on sizable building structures projects.
Extensive experience of risk management and identifying optimum solutions. Demonstrable record of liaising professionally with external clients, agencies and other design consultants. Experience of managing project teams and promoting a positive and effective workplace environment. Given our current workload, experience of large complex steel structures and expertise in the use of Tekla Structural Designer would be beneficial.
Based in our larger recently refitted WGC office but with the opportunity for travel throughout the UK and overseas.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Technician to join our growing Civil Infrastructure team in the Welwyn Garden City office. The successful applicant will contribute to design documentation by producing 3D engineering design models, drawing plans, assisting with technical approval submissions, and preparation of construction details.
Candidates will be suitably qualified with an HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification (EngTech). Candidates will also have a comprehensive knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D or related civil 3D design packages. Experience is required in highway, utitliites, and drainage design principles. Experience in the use of Autodesk Vehicle Tracking and MicroDrainage or similar is desirable.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be the first point of contact for all visitors to the office in Welwyn Garden City. You will have responsibility to organise and supervise all administrative activities that underpin the smooth and efficient running of the office, including supporting the Communications Manager with marketing activities for the business.
Your duties will include answering the office switchboard in a timely manner, directing calls to their destination and taking messages when necessary; overseeing all elements of H&S for the office; conducting key elements of the Staff Induction Programme in conjunction with the necessary line manager for new starters; updating and maintaining company branded products and collateral; organising and creating the company Newsletter and management of Social Media outlets and client feedback and building and maintaining positive and efficient working relations with colleagues, providing assistance with work related requests and queries generated from other offices as and when necessary.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced user of MS Office 365 suite and will have previous office experience with the ability to multitask and work to deadlines.
Candidates will have a BEng/BSc degree in Civil or Environmental Engineer and be Chartered or near Chartered (CEng). Sound experience in flood risk assessments, SuDS, pavement designs, managing projects, checking and preparing engineering reports, drawings and figures to a high standard. Will be proficient in use of AutoCAD, Micro Drainage and Civil 3D. Experience in sectional agreements including S278, S38, S104 and S106. Good, proven management skills.
