PRINCIPAL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Principal Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analysing, and overseeing the construction of various structures, ensuring they are safe, sustainable, and built to the highest standards. This role requires a strong foundation in engineering principles, as well as proficiency in relevant software tools.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Leading the design and analysis of structural projects, ensuring they meet safety, performance, and compliance standards
  • Team Management: Managing and mentoring a team of engineers, CAD technicians, and other staff to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget
  • Technical Expertise: Serving as a subject matter expert on structural engineering, providing guidance on complex technical issues and innovative solutions
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring all design work adheres to company and industry quality standards, including thorough checking and coordination between disciplines
  • Client Interaction: Engaging with clients to understand their needs, present design solutions, and provide technical advice
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all projects comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards
  • Proposal Development: Preparing bids and proposals, including estimating man-hours and fees for new projects
  • Innovation and Development: Staying updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to incorporate into project designs
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks in projects and developing mitigation strategies

Experience

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field is essential
  • Several years of experience in structural engineering, with progressively responsible roles. Experience in leadership or supervisory positions is highly valued
  • In-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, including static and dynamic analysis, material properties, and construction methods
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor engineering teams, ensuring high-quality work and professional development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders
  • Advanced problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges and develop innovative solutions
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate data, perform calculations, and make informed decisions
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards and regulations
  • Ongoing professional development through workshops, seminars, and courses to stay updated with industry trends and advancements
